Chancel Choir
&
Wesley Ringers Hand Bells

Margaret Boothby, our choir director loves to hear the choir sing their praises to God!  They have fun singing and welcome any and all to join.  You can be young, old or in between.  You can be experienced or non-experienced.

Our choir sings at the traditional servcie each Sunday.  They also participate in marvelous musical presentations such as Easter Cantatas and Concerts.

The choir meets for practice Thursday nights from 7:40 PM until 9:00 PM.

Wesley Ringers Handbell Choir was formed in 1976-77.  The first choir began with two octaves of bells;  over the years that has been expanded to 5 octaves of bells and 4 octaves of handchimes, all lasting memorial gifts.  Lasting memorials gifts are given by our members in memory of a loved one.

There are currently eleven members of the hand bell choir.  There is always room for more!

Our current Handbell Choir Director is Margaret Boothby.  Margaret brings her bubbly personality, strong skills and wit to the group – she keeps everyone on thier toes and still smiling.

Wesley Ringers play regularly for church services and participate in community events.

Rehearsals for the hand bells are held in the church sanctuary Thursday evenings from 6:15 PM to 7:35 PM.

A beginning choir is started as needed.  A beginning choir is made up of folks who have some musical experience and want to learn to play the bells.  So…. you don’t have to be an experienced handbell player to get started!

The choir holds membership in Handbell Musicians of America national organization.  Handbell Musicians of America is dedicated to advancing the musical art of handbell/handchime ringing through education, community and communication.

We know you will enjoy either of these wonderful groups as a spectator or a participant.

For information for either of these groups, call the church office or email to: gvumc@gv-umc.org
