How Do I Meet People?
Grass Valley UMC is an excellent place to become connected and stay vital. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at Grass Valley UMC.

Small Groups

Often, small groups of people are better able to interact and learn about a topic than larger groups are. For that reason, GVUMC has small bible studies held on Sunday mornings.

The size of the group is anywhere from six to twelve. At a time, designated by your group, you can participate in the small group study.

Children’s Ministry

Each Sunday morning, children get to participate in their own classes.
Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every child gets to participate and learn.
Each of the class teachers is carefully screened and thoroughly trained in children’s instruction. The youth ministry of Grass Valley UMC is recognized for their close interaction.
The Grass Valley UMW is a group that cares deeply for the members of the church,
each other and also for the community.
United Methodist Women are dedicated to support missions that improve the lives of women
and children both in the local community, the country and the world.

The Grass Valley unit is comprised of four small groups — three circles and one group of members at large who do not choose to be members of a circle!

We meet the first Thursday of each month as a unit for brunch, fellowship and a program that strives to interest and/or entertain all attendees. During July and August we do not meet.

Each circle also meets monthly as a small group, usually at a luncheon meeting

or for dessert in the afternoon. Fellowship is important in these small groups.

Any interested woman can join UMW, church member or not!

We invite you to come and enjoy fellowship in a powerful,
effective and caring group of women.
Once a month, 35 volunteers gather to make over 1000 pasties,
which are sold to the local community.

Last Friday Supper
On the “Last Friday” of each month (except during November and December) Grass Valley United Methodist Church offers a free dinner to anyone.
This ministry is an outreach to bring people and families together for a great meal.
Gerry Gaynor has been creating nutritious and delicious meals for years!
During the holiday’s of Thanksgiving and Christmas, we offer these meals earlier in the month. They are usually on the 2nd Friday of the month. You can also help donate, cook or serve at these meals. You may contact Gerry at:

It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation.
GVUMC members are involved in a variety of ministries from simple to the complex.
Look around Grass Valley and Nevada County and you will find members of the

Please look at our many possibilities here and see where you fit in.
You will be amazed at how good it feels.
In addition to all these opportunities, we have many, many committee positions
and other partner programs to work with.
