CHRISTIAN LIVING

The foundation of Christian living is faith in Christ. Faith is the central loyalty that gives purpose and direction to our lives. Christian faith is grounding our lives in the living God as revealed especially in Jesus the Christ.

Faith does not happen overnight, but rather is a journey. From birth to death we’re growing in faith. There are ups and downs — and sometimes long flat stretches where we seem to be stalled in our journey. But little by little, most of us deepen our relationship with God.scrol2

FROM PASTOR & WORSHIP COMMITTEE:

An Invitation to Add Traditions to Worship

Please join in a spirit of cheerful experimentation as we try out three traditions! These traditions are offered to enrich our worship experience with a renewal of reverence.

  1. “Processional” will take the place of “Gathering Music”

Arrive early if you would like refreshments and socializing in Wesley Hall. If you are not going to do that, please go right to your seat and converse quietly with friends in the pews. Try not to socialize in the lobby or the “narthex.”

At 10:27, the music that was formerly called “Gathering Music” will be called “Processional.”  Social talk will end, and the pastor and the acolytes will enter the sanctuary, followed by any worship leaders and/or choir members who wish to join in the procession.

The “Processional” signals to all that worship is beginning. During this time, if you are not already in your seat, please become quiet and make way for the procession.

  1. “Passing of the Peace” will be restored to the Communion liturgy.

Instead of having a social version of this every Sunday, we will add it the liturgical way into the Communion order, right after Confession and Pardon. You will greet those who are near where you are sitting, with peace in Christ. So this means that “Passing of the Peace” will not appear in the order every Sunday, only in Communion.

  1. Listening to the Postlude; Preparing to go out into the world in Christ.

When worship ends, please be seated after the Benediction, and remain seated and quiet for the “Postlude.” This element of music is actually a part of worship, a time to prepare for going out into the world. Please receive it with full attention. The pastor will get up when the music ends  . That is your signal to get up and go out into the world to love and serve God and neighbors!
